Hoje estou a escrever pela última vez no blog. Isso porque o meu projecto SVE está no fim e esta é a minha última sexta-feira na Madeira. É tempo de voltar a casa. Sinto muitas emoções diferentes. Em primeiro lugar, fico triste porque tenho de deixar este paraíso natural, mas também fico contente porque vou ver novamente a minha família e amigos. Gostaria de dizer Obrigado à Madeira, porque foi a minha casa durante estes seis meses. Outra coisa que vou lembrar é a simpatia dos portugueses e a disponibilidade em ajudar os estrangeiros.
Queria acabar desta maneira o blog, mas tenho de falar sobre o grande incêndio ocorrido no dia 13 de Augusto. Este ano esta “ilha linda” não teve muita sorte, esperamos que nada mais aconteça.

Today I’m writing for the last time on the blog. Yes, it’s my last Friday in Madeira, my EVS project is coming to an end. So, six months flew by, and it’s time to come home again. I’m feeling several different emotions now. On the one hand, sometimes I get a few sad ‘cause leaving this beautiful island. On the other hand I’m so happy to see again my family and my friends. I really need the homecoming. Here I’d like to say Obrigado to Madeira because this island was my home during those months. I really appreciated the beautiful landscapes of this natural paradise. Another thing I’ll surely remember is the … and kindness of Portuguese people.
I’d like to finish in this way my blog, even if I’d rather have written about the fires which affected Madeira on 13th August. It wasn’t a lucky year for the beautiful island, I hope nothing like this will happen again.
O último dia está se aproximando. Este é o último post que escrevo para o blog dos "SVE na Madeira”. Espero que tenham gostado das nossas aventuras na pérola do Atlântico.

Como já escrevi, eu e o Isaac fomos em Lisboa para um curso de formação de SVE, sobre a experiência de voluntário europeu. Tenho muitas histórias para contar, mas aqui é difícil descrever a maioria dos momentos que recordo destes dias. Em primeiro lugar, 22 voluntários, provenientes de diferentes países, aderiram ao curso. A maioria deles era turca, outros de Itália, Espanha, Alemanha, Áustria, Grécia, Estónia, Letónia e Rússia. Recém-chegados após o almoço, e aguardando a chegada de outros voluntários, aderimos à primeira aula. Devo dizer, que ao princípio sentia-me um pouco estranho sobre este curso. Na verdade, os formadores juntaram-nos em círculo, para quebrar o gelo entre nós, como vemos nos filmes quando há uma terapia de grupo com pessoas com problemas graves, como o álcool ou toxicodependência. Posso dizer que quase me senti estúpido :) Durante os primeiros momentos de aula, não estava entendendo os objectivos dos formadores e não entendia porque estava ali, escutando formadores loucos. Mas depois disso, apercebi-me de todo o programa, e fiquei muito contente com as coisas importantes que aprendi. Agora penso que é importante participar numa dinâmica de grupo, podemos sentir-nos livres e felizes. Assim como costumava dizer o Paulo, o nosso mentor, “Be you, be free, be happy. Maybe I'm wrong...”. Agora apenas alguns dias passaram, mas surpreendi-me porque trouxe comigo a atitude positiva que o Paulo me transmitiu. Ele é um grande motivador, estou-lhe muito grato, porque agora estou me sentindo mais relaxado sobre a minha experiência de voluntario. Espero que este efeito dure muito tempo. Quero falar também sobre os outros formadores, o Fernando e o Rodrigo. O Fernando parece como o Mauro Silva, um ex-jogador do Deportivo La Coruna, ou como um músico de jazz, gostei do seu estilo e da sua pessoa. Rodrigo foi um amigo, mais que um formador. Foi muito bom partilhar bons momentos com ele, espero vê-lo em breve.
E agora, depois do que falei sobre os formadores, quero falar sobre os meus colegas também, os outros voluntários. Como não posso falar do Andrei, o voluntário da Estónia. Ele não sabia falar Português, e pôde falar apenas num Inglês mesmo básico, e não tão bom. Este aspecto foi motivo de muitos momentos engraçado. Por exemplo, uma vez perguntei-lhe: “How are you?”, e ele respondeu “Why not” :)))) todas as suas frases em Inglês eram curtas, e pronunciadas com um forte sotaque Russo, pelo que se tornou numa espécie de linguagem entre nós “What?”, “Why”, “Go away!”. E tenho outros momentos muito engraçados que aqui não posso escrever. Andrei, muito obrigado para todos os momentos hilariantes, irei ter saudades tuas.
Gostei muito desta experiência, porque encontrei diversas pessoas novas, e com sorte, reverei algumas delas. Lembro-me do grupo turco, todos eles foram pessoas muito amigáveis, como o Yunus “Come on man” e o Ridvan “o aficionado do Besiktas”.
Vou ter saudades do Vinicius, “o Brasileiro de Coritiba”, “o aficionado da Fluminense”, tudo é passado agora, mas eu sempre vou trazer comigo um monte de momentos engraçados. Foi um prazer partilhar estes dias com todos os voluntários. Envio o meu abraço a todos, à Maria de Itália, à Maria da Rússia, e a todas as pessoas das quais não falei aqui, quero dizer: “Muito obrigado!”.

As I've written a few days ago, Isaac and I have gone to Lisbon for a EVS training course. I have a lot of stories to tell you, but here it's difficult to describe most of moments that I can remember about these days. Firstly, 22 european volunteers, coming from different countries, have joined the course. Most of them are Turkish, the others come from Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Russia. Just arrived, after having lunch, and waiting for the arrival of other volunteers, we have joined the first lesson. I have to say that, at the beginning I was feeling so strange about this course. Indeed, the trainers set us in a tight circle, to break the ice between us, just like a film when there's a group therapy with people having serious problems, as alcohol or drug addiction. I can say that I have felt almost a stupid :) during the first steps of lesson, I wasn't understanding the trainers' objectives and why I was sitting there listening to crazy teachers :). But after that, I have enjoyed all the program, that I have appreciated so much. It's important to join a group dynamic, you can feel free and happy. Just like Paulo, the first trainer, our mentor, often used to say: BE YOU, BE FREE, BE HAPPY, MAYBE I'M WRONG... Now, only few days have passed, but I have surprised myself, because I've brought with me the positive attitude that Paulo transmitted to me. He's a great guy, I'm very grateful to him, 'cause now I'm feeling myself more and more relaxed about my experience here. I hope this effect will last so long. I would thank also the others trainers, Fernando and Rodrigo. Fernando looks like Mauro Silva, a former player of Deportivo la Coruna, or like a jazz musician, I like his style. Rodrigo has been a friend, more than a trainer, during the course. It has been very good to share good moments with him, I hope soon I'll see him.
And now, after I talked about trainers, I want to write something about my colleagues, too. How can't I talk about of Andrei, the Estonian volunteer. What a funny guy! He cannot speak Portuguese, and he can speak only a really basic English, and not so good. This aspect has been the reason for a lot of really funny moments, I have not the space to write here about that. For example, one time I asked him “How are you?” and he answered “Why not” :). All his English short sentences, pronounced with a strong Russian accent, have became a sort of language between us: WHAT?, WHY?, GO AWAY!... And I have so much other moments to tell about him but here I cannot write them :) Anyway, thank you so much Andrei for all the hilarious moments, I will miss you!
I have liked so much this experience, because I have knew a lot of new friends, even if probably I'll see only few of them another time, if I'm lucky. I can remember the Turkish group, all of them have been really friendly people, like Yunus “Come on man”, and Ridvan “the Besiktas supporter”.
I will miss friends like Vinicius “o Brasileiro do Coritiba”, “the Fluminense supporter”, but all is passed out now, even if I'll always bring with me a lot of funny moments. It has been a pleasure sharing with all the volunteers these days, sending my hugs to everyone, to Maria the Italian, Maria the Russian, Eleftherius, and all the people I didn't talked about here, I want to say you: “Thanks guys!”
Na semana passada estivemos no curso de formação "On arrival training em Lisboa”. O que posso dizer sobre estes dias... Foram extraordinários! Conhecemos pessoas do Brasil, Turquia, Estónia, Letónia, Rússia, Alemanha, Áustria, Grécia, Bulgária, Itália, Espanha, Portugal, etc... Tivemos a sorte de partilhar estes dias fantásticos com 22 voluntários de todo o mundo e uns formadores excelentes, Fernando, Paulo e Rodrigo.
Durante os dias de formação, aprendemos a dançar danças típicas de Portugal, visitámos Lisboa, comemos pastéis de Belém, aprendemos a fazer queijo e comemos comida muito boa!
Fomos acolhidos em Almada e eu e o Costantino partilhámos o quarto com o Andrei ou também chamado de “WHAT?WHY? GO AWAY! SLEEP!”, Vinicius “Festa todo o tempo" e Eleferius "eu posso dormir mais 10 minutos... ". Era uma mistura perigosa! As frases de Andreis foram o hino do dia e o grupo turco ensinou-nos frases como "How are you?" e "How is your family?” em turco, obviamente.
Os formadores Paulo, Fernando e Rodrigo fizeram com que o curso fosse muito interessante. Eles inspiram felicidade, paz, harmonia, sabedoria .... É realmente difícil falar sobre todas as coisas boas que vivi com os voluntários e os formadores. Mas todos eles têm algo em comum ... pessoas muito muito muito engraçadas. Foi um prazer poder partilhar estes dias com todos vocês! Quero mandar um grande abraço para todos os voluntários, Andrei, Jule, Maria Holunder, Maria italiana, Maria Russo, Vinicius, Elefterius, Sule, Ozgun, Ridvan, Irem, Gurhan, Sabrina, Yunus, Dimitar, Beatriz, Ozge, Pinar, Aia e os formadores Paulo, Fernando e Rodrigo!

Last week we were in the course of training "On arrival training" in Lisbon. What can I say about these days ... They have been extraordinary! We met people from Brazil, Turkey, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, etc ... We have been fortunate to share these fantastic days with 22 volunteers from around the world and some excellent trainers, Fernando, Paulo and Rodrigo.
During the training days we learned to dance tipycal dances of Portugal, we visited Lisbon, we ate cakes of Belem, we have learned to make cheese and we have eaten really good food!
We have been hosted in Almada and Costantino and me shared room with Andrei or also called “WHAT?WHY?GO AWAY! SLEEP!!”, Vinicius “Party all the time” and Eleferius “I can sleep 10 minutes more…”. It was a dangerous mixture! The phrases of Andreis has been the hymn of the days and the Turkish people have taught us phrases like “How are you?” and “ How is your family?” in turkish, obviously.
The trainers Paulo, Fernando and Rodrigo did that the course was very very interesting. They inspire you happiness, peace, harmonia, wisdom....Is really difficult to talk about all the good things lived with the volunteers and the trainers. But all of them have something in common...very very very funny people. It was a pleasure share these days with all of you! I want send a big hug for all the volunteers, Andrei, Jule, Maria Holunder, Maria Italian, Maria Russian, Vinicius, Elefterius, Sule, Ozgun, Ridvan, Irem, Gurhan, Sabrina, Yunus, Dimitar, Beatriz, Ozge, Pinar, Aia and the trainers Paulo, Fernando and Rodrigo!
Três dias de trabalho duro, mas quando tudo acaba, fico muito contente pela maneira como gastei o meu tempo. Quantas luzes contei? Não sei. E quantas galinholas? Zero, outra vez.
Fomos a vários lugares trabalhar nos projectos da SPEA. Que bonito é o Seixal. Lá contei as luzes da iluminação pública e desfrutei da paisagem. Este lugar estava quase vazio, como uma cidade fantasma. Lá, apenas vi algumas pessoas mais velhas, por isso, se precisas de relaxar, posso sugerir-te o Seixal. Ali podes admirar, neste contexto de paz, as ondas do mar azul que batem contra as pedras. Acho que muitas pessoas podem pensar que todo isso é chato, mas a minha opinião é diferente. Estou certo que se és um artista, podes procurar aqui um bom momento de inspiração para as tuas pinturas ou poemas.
Outro bom momento de esta semana foi o trabalho do campo na Ponta do Sol. Pude observar muitas cagarras, e ouvir o seu canto, muito similar aos falar de crianças muito pequenas. Vi também uma coruja capturando próximo aos ninhos de cagarras. Desta vez, ficámos muito perto de ninhos e muitas cagarras voaram perto da minha cabeça. Para mim foi una situação especial, porque gosto muito de estar em harmonia com meus irmãos animais, especialmente as aves.
Ah, só agora lembrei-me de um outro momento especial. No último Sábado a apresentação foi muito boa! Esperámos pela nossa vez, quase um dia inteiro. Estava relaxado porque tinha um texto que eu escrevi para falar em Português da melhor maneira. Mas quando chegou a minha vez, levantei-me para falar da minha experiência SVE, e era quase impossível ler o meu texto. Mas, depois dos primeiros dez segundos, comecei a falar relaxado, e não me senti assim tão mal como palestrante. Podia vir as pessoas interessadas na minha apresentação. Então, gostei muito de aquele momento, e pronunciei novas frases que eu não fiz pelo meu texto. É uma coisa pequena, mas considero este evento como a melhor apresentação da minha vida. Bela experiência, estou muito orgulhoso de mim, e do meu Português.

Three days of an hard working week passed out. How many lights did I count? I don't know, but it's a great number. How many woodcocks did I observe? Zero, again...
We went to several places to work on the Spea projects. What a beautiful place is Seixal. I counted the lights there, and I could enjoy a wonderful landscape. It was almost empty of people, like a ghost city. Only a few old people I saw there. If you need time to relax, I can suggest you this place. And you can admire, in this peaceful context, the sea waves crashing on the rocks. I think that many a great people may think that all of this is boring, but I am different from these ones. I am sure that if you are an artist, you can take inspiration for your paintings or poems.
Another good moment was the field work in Ponta do Sol. I observed a lot of Cory shearwaters, and I listened to their song, really similar to baby human sounds. Also, I saw a barn owl, catching next to cory shearwaters' nests. This time, we were very closer to the nests, and a lot of “cagarros” flied near my head. So special situation, I like to be in harmony with my animal brothers, especially the birds.
Oh, just now I am remembering that. Last Saturday the power point presentation was really great! We waited for our turn almost an entire day. I was relaxed, I had my written sentences to help myself for speaking to the best way in Portuguese. But when it was my turn I stood up to talk about my EVS experience and it was almost impossible to read my text. I felt no good only the first 10 seconds. After that, I began to talk very quite, and I was not so bad as speaker. Yes, I felt better and better, I could see the people interested in my explanation. So, I enjoyed so much that, and I pronounced new phrases that I didn't made for my text. It's a little thing, but I consider this event like the best public presentation of my life. Nice performance, I am proud of me.
Todos os dias desta semana foram no escritório, colocando dados das viagens de barco no computador e estudando gramática de Português, porque na próxima semana vou fazer uma espécie de exame. Espero que corra bem!!
Ontem no escritório, todos nós tivemos uma entrevista com a responsável do EVS na Madeira, a qual nos deu uma ótima notícia: eu e o Isaac vamos visitar Lisboa na última semana de Maio. E ficaremos lá uma semana! Vamos participar no programa de formação organizado pelo Programa Juventude em Acção, no qual poderemos encontrar todos os voluntários do SVE a trabalhar em Portugal. Além disso, teremos a oportunidade de visitar a parte histórica da cidade e, sem pagar nada!!! Será uma oportunidade fantástica para desfrutar de uma das mais belas cidades europeias. Até breve

All the days at office this week. I’m putting the data of the boat trips on the computer and I’m studying Portuguese grammar because I’m going to do a sort of exam next week. Hope that it’ll be ok.
Yesterday at office we all together had an interview with a EVS corresponding in Madeira, and she gave me great news: Isaac and I are going to visit Lisbon in the last week of May. And we’ll stay there one week! We’ll join the training program organized by Youth & Action Program, in which there will be all the EVS volunteers working in Portugal. Also, we will have the opportunity to go to visit the historical parts of the city. And all of this for free J So, a fantastic opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful European cities.
Nascido em 1985, estudou Engenharia Química na Universidade de Tarragona, Rovira i Virgili. Graças a isso, descobriu a pressão e problemas que este sector exerce sobre o ambiente.
Está a participar no Serviço de Voluntariado Europeu com a SPEA-Madeira, desde Março de 2010, e tem como principais objectivos colaborar em projectos de melhoramento ambiental dirigidos às aves.
Isaac was born in Tarragona in 1985 and studied Chemical Engineering at the university of Tarragona, Rovira i Virgili. Thanks to it, he could see the problems that suppose this sector for the environment.
At this moment, he’s doing a voluntary service with Spea since March 2010 and feels very happy to collaborate in an environmental improvement work with birds.
