Nova estagiária da SPEA Ana Amaral

Olá, o meu nome é Ana Amaral e atualmente estou a fazer um estágio na SPEA através do programa ProJovem. Pretendo apoiar a equipa no Projeto LIFE Natura@night e trabalhar na comunicação geral da SPEA.

Nasci em Lisboa e em criança tornei-me escuteira, ganhando uma ligação maior com a natureza. Mais tarde licenciei-me em Biologia.

Há três anos, decidi seguir a minha paixão pelo oceano e mudei-me para a ilha da Madeira. Depois de concluir o mestrado em Biologia da Conservação pela Universidade de Évora, fiz um estágio profissional no IFCN onde pude aprender e contribuir para a conservação do lobo-marinho.

Foi na "ilha das flores" que comecei a praticar mergulho recreativo e me juntei a um grupo de biólogas voluntárias chamado Ocean Devotion Madeira (SOA Madeira), através deste sensibilizamos as comunidades locais sobre a importância da conservação do oceano.

Sempre fui apaixonada por cuidar da natureza e partilhar essa importância com diferentes públicos-alvo. Acredito que organizações não governamentais, como a SPEA, desempenham um papel fundamental na crise climática que enfrentamos e deveriam ser mais valorizadas.

Estou muito grata por ter a oportunidade de colaborar com a SPEA durante este ano, aprender mais sobre como reduzir o impacto da poluição luminosa na fauna da Madeira e contribuir para uma ilha mais saudável.

Hi, my name is Ana Amaral and I'm currently doing an internship at SPEA under the program ProJovem. I intend to support the team in the LIFE Natura@night Project and work in the overall communication of SPEA.

I was born in Lisbon and as a child I became a scout, acquiring a deeper bond with nature. Later I graduated in Biology.

Three years ago, I decided to follow my passion for the ocean and moved to the island of Madeira. After completing my master’s degree in Conservation Biology at the University of Évora, I did a professional internship at the IFCN where I was able to learn and contribute to the conservation of the Mediterranean Monk Seal.

It was on the "island of flowers" that I started scuba diving and joined a group of volunteer biologists called Ocean Devotion Madeira (SOA Madeira), where we organize awareness actions for local communities about the importance of ocean conservation.

I have always been passionate about caring for nature and sharing this importance with different target groups. I believe that non-governmental organizations, such as SPEA, play a key role in the climate crisis we face and should be valued more.

I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside with SPEA during this year, learn more about how to reduce the impact of light pollution on Madeira's fauna and contribute to a healthier island.
