Prazer em conhecê-lo, Madeira!

Hola a tots!

Em dic Octavi, tinc 18 anys i vinc de Barcelona, on estudio un CFGS en Educació i Control Ambiental. Des dels 7 anys tinc una forta passió per als ocells, i les aus pelàgiques sempre m’han intrigat i interessat molt. Quan se’m va presentar l’oportunitat de venir a treballar amb SPEA no m’ho vaig pensar dues vegades: “Octavi, has d’anar a Madeira sigui com sigui”.

Espero aprendre molt amb la gent d’SPEA! Tant sobre les noves metodologies d’estudi de les aus:
mètodes de recompte de poblacions, col·locar geolocalitzadors, mesurar la contaminació, o millorar les tècniques que ja conec com el cens i l’anellament d’aus. 

També m’encantaria aprendre la cultura, l’idioma i gaudir de la costa i la muntanya de Madeira.

Hello everyone!

My name is Octavi, I am 18 years old, and I come from Barcelona, where I am studying a Higher Vocational Training Program in Environmental Education and Management. Since I was 7 years old, I have had a strong passion for birds, and seabirds have always fascinated and interested me greatly. When I was given the opportunity to come and work with SPEA, I didn’t think twice: “Octavi, you have to go to Madeira no matter what.”

I hope to learn a lot from the people at SPEA! Both about new bird research methodologies—such as population survey methods, deploying geolocators and measuring pollution—and about improving techniques I am already familiar with, such as bird censusing and bird ringing.

I would also love to learn about the local culture, the language, and enjoy Madeira’s coastline and mountains.

Thank you very much for this opportunity. I’m sure I will learn a great deal and thoroughly enjoy this experience with you all!
